Interview Bluemars Written by Administrator for Calmscape Tuesday, 24 May 2005 Interview with bluemars.org. A Calmscape exclusive... We were lucky to stop Lone the founder and administrator of Bluemars just before he climbed his A-88X spaceship which was set and ready to launch. We asked him a few questions: Hi Lone and thank you for your time. I'm sure a lot of readers and viewers of Calmscape and the listeners of Bluemars as well, would be interested in knowing some more about you. Are you a male or female? "I'm a 30year old handsome french male." Where in the universe are you located at the moment? "South-west of France near the Spanish border, in a very small town named "Peyrehorade" (pronounced 'Pay-row-rad') where I'm spending a sabbatical year close to my family." Cabernet Sauvignon or Coca Cola? "Neither :P I don't drink alcohol, and coke is just nasty. Earl Grey, on the other hand..." Tell us when and why you did start Bluemars? "I started it somewhere in 2000, can't really remember when exactly, then it was shutdown for about 2 years (because of the CARP deal), and I reopened it a bit over a year ago. Why ? because I *really* love Ambient music, why else ? ;-) It was also very easy at the time because I worked for Nullsoft, and AOL was happy to provide the bandwidth." Are you planning an expansion of Bluemars? "Well, not for a while now, we have 3 streams already, and that's more than enough to keep me busy." Lord of the Rings or Alien the Trilogy? "LoTR, the book please." Radio hardware specs. for the curious listener, please? "Nothing fancy really, just a big pile of mp3s on a server..." Have you any Bluemars employees / helpers? "No employee, this is purely a non-profit station (you'll notice there's no advertising on the website either). I have a few people helping me with the technical side (server stuff) and also suggesting/sending me tracks every now and then. Except for that, Bluemars and Cryosleep are pretty much a oneman thing. The third stream on the other hand (Voices From Within) is made almost entirely of tracks provided my Mr Splif, the artist who designed the website. I just maintain it for him." Can you spare 2mbit so we can host 20 listeners at our own not-yet-started radio? (Edit: This was before our own radio came on-the-air) "I'm afraid that'd be difficult, my streams run as a courtesy of a lot of different people and i'd rather not impose on them any more than I am doing already. Sorry guys, I wish the bandwidth was mine to share... really." Who's you favorite artist and why? "That's an easy one : Geir Jenssen (Biosphere). Probably some of the reason why is that he's the artist who introduced me to ambient, but there's much more than this. This man's music has changed me, almost entirely. You just have to listen." That was all. Thank you for the interview Lone. After the interview we discussed his A-88X and the destination which he had set the auto-pilot to while he himself would enter Cryo Sleep in the 2 light years it would take to reach the planet of Zyperloqin. This is Ripley... last survivor of the Nostromo... signing off! From https://web.archive.org/web/20051219225029/http://www.calmscape.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=49&Itemid=47
